29 May More Tips on Drying Your Laundry
OneCrazyHouse.com offers “13 Clothes Drying Tips You Never Learned in Home Economics.” Here are a few of our favorites:
“The fastest way to dry your clothes (and keep them static free) is to add balls of aluminum foil to the dryer to get rid of static cling. The foil discharges any static buildup and helps keep clothes separated, allowing them to dry faster.”
“Add a dry towel in with wet clothes to help them dry faster. Note that this probably isn’t a good idea with dark colored clothes. I did it once with my husband’s uniform, and it was covered in lint, albeit dry.” Just a thought – you may want to use a dark towel for dark colored clothes and a white or light color for, well, you get it.
“Make homemade dryer sheets from scrap cloth, vinegar and essential oils. Add a few to each load, and when the clothes are dry, toss them back into the jar for reuse.”
“Here’s another dryer sheet alternative. Soak sponges in your favorite fabric softener. (Mix fabric softener and water in equal amounts.) Add them back to the liquid after each use.” A plastic container holds everything nicely!
And for those of us who hate to iron…
“Ditch the iron! Toss some ice cubes in the dryer along with whatever you plan to wear to steam the wrinkles out.”
